Nancy Witt

Nancy Camden Witt enjoyed a national reputation as an artist, with more than 50 one-person shows to her credit. Her paintings have been included and won awards in over 60 exhibitions from New York to California. She is represented in the permanent collections of Chase Manhattan Bank, NY and Zurich; Mint Museum, Charlotte, NC; the Federal Reserve Bank in Richmond, VA; and in numerous other corporate and private collections. Her work is the subject of an independent film, Vanishing Point, and she was named Virginia Artist of the Year by the WCA in 1994.

Witt attended Randolph-Macon Woman's College from 1948 to 1950 when she transferred to Richmond Professional Institute (now Virginia Commonwealth University) to obtain more specialised training in art. She received her BA degree from Old Dominion University in 1965 and her MFA degree in sculpture from Virginia Commonwealth University in 1967. She received an honorary Doctor of Fine Arts degree from Randolph-Macon College in 1997.

She passed away in late 2009 after over fifty years as a professional artist.
