About the Artist

Anna Boothe

With degrees in sculpture from Rhode Island School of Design and glass from Tyler School of Art, Anna Boothe has worked with glass since 1980. Her work has been shown extensively and is included in the collections of the Bergstrom-Mahler Museum of Glass, Corning Museum of Glass, Racine Art Museum and the Tacoma Museum of Art.

In recent years, Boothe’s work has been featured at the Fuller Craft Museum (MA), Kemerer Museum of Decorative Arts (PA), Albuquerque Museum of Art, Philadelphia City Hall, InLiquid (PA), Downing Yudain (CT), and Tambaran (NYC) galleries, in Cast at the Wayne Art Center (PA) as well as at several villas in Italy’s Veneto region and in Arte Design Venezia’s The Transparent Breath. (Venice, Italy).

In 2012, NYC area sculptor Nancy Cohen and she created a large glass installation through a Corning Museum of Glass Collaborative Residency which they exhibited at Accola Griefen Gallery (Chelsea, NYC), the Philadelphia Art Alliance and the Philadelphia International Airport, with subsequent works shown at Princeton’s Paul Robeson Center for the Arts. Their extensive installation, Between Seeing and Knowing, was exhibited at the Bergstrom-Mahler Museum of Glass October ’22 – February ’23 and has since been acquired by the museum.

As a first-time exhibitor at each the Smithsonian (’19), Philadelphia Museum of Art (’15) and ACC Baltimore (’16) craft shows, she received Best in Glass /Award in Excellence distinctions.

After 16 years as a Tyler glass program faculty member, Boothe helped develop Salem Community College’s (NJ) glass art program in 2004, where she also chaired the school’s International Flameworking Conference. In the US she has taught at numerous universities and glass-focused schools, a short list that includes Rhode Island School of Design, Rochester Institute of Technology, Virginia Commonwealth University, Pilchuck, the Studio of the Corning Museum of Glass and Urban Glass. Internationally, she has exhibited and/or lectured in Australia, Belgium, Canada, Israel, Japan, Switzerland, Taiwan and Turkey.

Boothe served as President of the Glass Art Society and was Director of Glass at Philadelphia’s National Liberty Museum.
