About the Artist

And I am still painting … a self taught Barbadian.
I started in England feeling poignant of my home and the tropical beauty of
our island, and have sold work privately and through galleries like Hallam
Fine Art Gallery, Pimlico, London; and Thebes Galleries, Lewes, Sussex.
Having returned to my home in Barbados almost 20 years ago, I have
recently been painting a series of work called ‘Land Stories’.
This work reflects and projects the colourful imagery of the Caribbean and
particularly Barbados.
From the shape of the land, hills and cane fields, the trees, foliage, seas and
skies, houses; and then patterns evolving from the jumble and chaos of the
not fully organised garden of the island to create a new picture.
Island essence.
Local galleries, the Barbados Central Bank, and various hotels carry my
work. Two chains (Indigo Barbados, and The Rockley) have bought paintings
and copyright for their guests’ rooms and reproduced prints on canvas,
cushions and carpets.
I believe that some assurance of our sense of place on this Earth, and our
responsibility to care for this Earth can be gifted through the recognition of
joy in the potential for beauty in landscapes, seas, skies and so on and so
on
