James LaMantia is a painter whose studio is based in Raleigh, North Carolina. Over the course of a four-decade career, LaMantia has exhibited his work extensively while collaborating with and partnering in fine art galleries.

Influenced by the American Abstract Expressionists and the richly textured works of Spanish artist Antoni Tàpies, LaMantia creates paintings that invite the viewer to look beyond the surface. His compositions often begin with recognizable, aerial interpretations of landscapes before gradually evolving into geometric abstractions.
