The Artist:
  Nic McGuire is a modern glass artist living in San Diego, CA.  An Encinitas native who received his Bachelor’s degree in Visual Arts from U.C.S.D. he is known as a hot glass sculptor who hand forms molten glass into contemporary art.  His work incorporates complex sculpture techniques with modern forms and unique color palettes to produce the current series of artwork.  The intricately crafted forms of glass and metal make each piece a unique one-of-a-kind sculpture.  The subject matter of winged creatures, birds and butterflies, evoke a sense of flight inspiring us to continue flying on our own journey. Nic enjoys spending time with his family, freediving in the ocean and making high quality original glass sculptures to share the beauty of life with others.

The Work:

A sculpture that intrigues and fascinates the human senses through the transparency of glass.  Brilliant rich colors and unique handmade textures with a graceful movement through their form where my intentions are in symbiotic harmony with the process-based nature of this exotic material. The work reveals that the beauty of life is more than meets the eye.  Glass is a symbol for the fragility of life that reminds us of ourselves as a sculpture formed from the heat of the cosmos and star dust.
