Local artist Sandhi Schimmel Gold, known for her incredible mosaics made of junk mail, has expanded her repertoire to include a new series of paintings. These new works showcase her classic portraits of women and evoke style and emotion, while continuing her commentary on the beauty standards of modern society.
"I am always moving on, moving ahead and exploring other options, techniques and art forms, just for the experience, or perhaps to imbue future work with something I have crafted."
Don't worry - there will be a little of everything in this show - the artist claims to still have 'unfinished business' with her cut paper techniques. She also has many creative avenues left to pursue after a difficult year without art.
"I took a year off to deal with COVID, with cancer, and with the closing of my gallery/studio space. During that time, many other concepts, ideas and philosophies have filled my days... So, you never know what I’ll be up to next."
