JOANNA TYKA - Since her youth, Joanna Tyka has been influenced, not so much by other artists and styles, but rather by the people and the places that she has encountered in different parts of the world. Although her favorite artists as a child were Matisse and Cezanne, she then considers her life to be the main influence on her artistic style. The varied lifestyles and numerous physical surroundings in which she has lived, have come together to form her unique style.

A native of Warsaw, Poland, Joanna Tyka graduated with a master's degree from the Warsaw Academy of fine Arts where she received the Award of Excellence. Having left Warsaw after receiving her master's degree, Tyka traveled to Hamburg, Germany, where she pursued many interests. Along with gallery exhibitions, she worked as a graphic designer, created and wove tapestries, and explored fashion design. Music has been a constant influence that has held firm throughout Tyka's life and artistic career. Through her childhood, she attended the Philharmonic in Warsaw, along with many other classical music events in Poland.

Her love of music is evident in most everything she paints. From the swaying of the ballet dancers, to the movements of the cellists' bow, music is apparent throughout.

Joanna Tyka's move to Miami over 12 years ago has had a great influence on her style as well. The colorful and somewhat whimsical folk art of the South and Central American communities, as well as the vibrant natural surroundings of South Florida, have merged into a style that has flourished into what you see today.
