Sue Jachimiec was born and raised in the big city of Chicago, IL. She attended the University of Iowa in Iowa City, graduating with a B.A. in Art. Soon after, Sue worked on the trading floor at the Chicago Board of Trade. Desiring a break from the hustle and bustle of city life, Sue moved to Richmond, VA and quickly became connected within the art community. Razzmatazz Decorative Finishes was born soon after Sue’s relocation. Numerous homes around the Richmond area display sues masterful faux finishes.

Today, Sue works with a variety of media, such as oils, cold wax, and encaustic. Many of her days are spent experimenting and mixing media in her home studio. The process of manipulating layers to allow for a surface rich in texture is a main theme throughout her work.

Traveling between her homes in Richmond and Dodgeville, Wisconsin, Sue always seeks inspirations for her latest artistic creation. When not painting, she can be found strutting the lively streets of downtown Dodgeville with her husband, Jeff, or spending time with her two children, Cecelia (19) and Nathan (16).

“The direction of my pieces is not always clear in the beginning, but each work is always influenced by color.”
