Rick Reinert
RICK REINERT — Rick Reinert grew up in Northern Indiana and began painting at an early age and his formal art study took place at Western Kentucky University in the early seventies. Breezing through all the art courses and ignoring the basic courses, he found himself out of money to continue his studies and joined the U.S. Army. Stationed overseas in Germany painting continued and his efforts cumulated with a solo exhibition in Wiesbaden, Germany in 1978.
Following a European separation from the Army, Reinert immigrated to Canada in 1980 and he continued to paint large, bold, expressionistic works. That same year, he had another solo exhibition in Toronto in an old factory section of town that had been converted into galleries and studio spaces.
With a renewed passion, Reinert began in the late 90’s to study sunlight in nature and through individual study that included books, studio work and plein air exercises designed to push his comfort level. Visually describing light and shadow in nature has become the tireless focus of his work and his passion has become the force behind each brushstroke.
Reinert has won numerous awards: “Best of Show” in the 2007 “Southern Light Paint Out”, second place at Disney World’s “Festival of the Masters” and merit awards at Piccolo Spoleto outdoor exhibition for the past two years. He is very proud that his work has been featured twice in American Art Collector magazine. His painting, “Southern Radiance”, was selected for inclusion in “Oil Painters of America” national exhibition in Missoula, Montana in May, 2008.
Reinert has private and corporate collectors throughout Europe, Canada, Asia and most U.S. states.
