Nicola de Benedictis
NICOLA DE BENEDICTIS — Nicola de Benedictis was born in Bari, Italy in 1950 and shows a strong attraction to figurative art at a very young age. At the age of twenty Nicola worked in a studio of the painter G Peruta and his dream of becoming a professional painter began. De Benedictis’ artistic career began in 1968 as an autodidact and after 1970 he became pupil of Catani, a master in fine art. After a few years spent with the artist in Bologna, De Benedictis decided to enroll in the Fine Art Fondazione Ratti. There the artist studied with teachers such as Somani and S Fillitz and in 1989 he graduated.
Soon after Nicola de Benedictis is noticed by art critics who describe him as one of the most talented and interesting artists of the upcoming generation. Today, De Benedictis’ paintings are in permanent exhibits in galleries throughout Italy as well as in foreign countries. Nicola de Benedictis participated in painting competitions for a period, in which he received appreciation from both critics and the public. Subsequently De Benedictis begins collaborating with art galleries to represent him with solo and collective exhibition in Italy and abroad. De Benedictis is best known for his use of bright and rich colors and for the originality of his work.
Nicola de Benedictis is realistic and while he paints what he sees, he is able to depict the atmosphere, the light and color fields in a personal and modern way. The artist has his own unique interpretation of color and a clear perception of how to resolve issues of form and space. What is real is borrowed from memory with vividness and spontaneity and becomes this poetic transcription and color fields.
Nicola de Benedictis is one of the few artists able to reach a high level of mysterious achievement through persistent curiosity, always searching for a real harmony between colors, lyricism and creation of an actual rendering of nature still life.
