Jeff Ballard

JEFF BALLARD — Born in 1977 in the suburbs of Chicago, Jeff spent the majority of his early years convinced that two-dimensional art was his calling.  He spent furtive hours at his drafting table designing everything from cartoons to logos for his favorite skateboard and bicycle companies.  It wasn’t until Jeff’s second year at the University of Illinois where he discovered the tremendous potential and excitement that Glassblowing offered.

Since receiving his BFA for Glass in 2000 from the University of Illinois Jeff has spent his years mastering his craft at various glass studios from Texas to Oregon.  In addition to gaffing and designing work for successful studios like Wimberley Glassworks, he has taken workshops at notable schools such as Pilchuck, Haystack, and The Pittsburgh Glass Center.  In 2008 Jeff opened his own gallery in downtown Portland, called Eyeful, and was asked to be one of two Gaffers to make the centerpieces for Pilchuck’s annual auction.  Jeff has been featured in books such as “Art Buzz 2008”, and was a finalist in the 2008 Niche Awards.  It is Jeff’s 12 years of experience and dedication to the medium that have brought him to the forefront of his craft.  Jeff Currently resides in Eugene Oregon where he teaches Glassblowing and creates his masterful works in glass.  His work can be found in galleries, museums, and private collections across the Country.
